OVERVIEW
The McGill Chinese Students’ Society website has existed for over a decade, facing multitude styles developed by each cohorts web developers. With the website existing with the goal of representing the society’s mission of spreading Chinese culture at McGill. As the new Webmaster for 2025 I decided to redesign the website approaching it from a usability and appearance standpoint, introducing mobile responsiveness and an updated cleaner aesthetic.
OLD
- No call to action in hero section
- No textual information on home page
- Poor padding and center text alignment
- Bare textual hierarchy

NEW

BUILDING & DEPLOYMENT
- Coded using Vue.js framework
- Hosted via Netlify
- Image delivery via Cloundinary (bandwidth optimization)

RESULTS
Fixing the various UX/UI flaws in the old design was a challenge of determining the optimal content layout for each page. At the same time, I slightly redefined the style guide to better incorporate MCSS’s brand red and associated fonts.
- Improved Google PageSpeed Insight scores, decreasing load times by over 50%
- Launched fully responsive site with mobile-first design
